Lipstick or lipgloss? What color should I go for?

Weird question but what lipstick should I wear when I go on dates with an SD? I always feel naked when I don't wear anything on my lips and I usually just wear a lip gloss but I don't if that's the right choice because I know that some bfs have complained about the stickiness. I do get that but I don't want to go with bare lips either especially when I do a full face of makeup. And what kind of makeup should I go for in general. I want to look pretty but glam but not too much makeup either?

Hey MUA here so I think that I'm uniquely qualified to answer this question. You are right that lipgloss can be sticky and messy but that goes for any kind of creamy lipstick. If you are going to wear lipstick go for a color that is close to your natural lip color and also that is longwearing and matte. Kiss the back of your hand to see if there's going to be anything left over to test it. Avoid the lipgloss it's really sticky and most men prefer their women to wear either a nude lip or a red one. For dates with SDs though I have found that a lip liner is the best choice since they tend to last longer or you can just pat some lipstick into your lips for a stain that lasts longer and will fade nicely. It's all about looking natural and pretty so that he doesn't think that you're trying to hard what you actually look like. Enhancing your natural features is the best choice

But what color should I go for?? I just don't think that red lips are going to look good on me. I don't have much expereince with makeup. Just mascara and some lip gloss really. Concealer when I need it. And also what kind of makeup should I do? Should I try out contouring? Sorry for all the questions

No worries hun. I wouldn't do anything that you haven't done before. So if you haven't tried contouring the first date with an SD isn't the time to do it. Just make sure that you are glowy but not shiny so highlight and powder are good. Also a pink blush makes you look youthful and pretty. I wouldn't go a lot of eyeshadow just some brown shadow smudged into the lashes to make them look fuller and also to define the eyes without looking like too much. Also a pink or a nude is better especially if you are planning on kissing your SD. You don't want lipstick all over your face or his. It's also less messy. If you want a red lip you can just pat in into your lips with some lip balm so that it isn't as strong. Lots and lots of mascara and even some individual false eyelashes too. You should look like you but more glam for sure. Also most SDs notice if your make up isn't perfect or if your hair isn't neat so pay more attention to making everything look good. Even if you only do a few things just make sure that they are all really nice and done well. You can get it done professionally too

There are so many tutorials online for pretty first date makeup if you are looking for ideas or if you want to learn some new tricks. I don't think that they take much time either. I think most of the time it's like a nude lip and lots of mascara which I think always makes people look pretty

I always follow the rule of 3 when it comes to my makeup especially when I want to look pretty. That means pick three things to put the focus on...I usually do eyebrows, eyelashes and lips but you can also add on cheeks if you are pale or if you're wearing foundation that is heavier

My friend's a makeup artist and he always tell me that. It's all about keeping it natural but also a little bit glammed up. He tells me to do it for interviews and things like that or when I'm rushing in the morning. I've never tried it yet but I trust him and what he says

If your lips are pale then I'd advised for you to use lipstick but if they are bright red without anything then I suggest just a lipgloss. But whatever you choose, make sure you're comfortable with it.
